Do not use a wire rope cable that is kinked, frayed or has worn spots. Wear gloves when handling the wire rope cable.

Weld the cable ends in order to prevent fraying.

1. Lower the boom to the ground and support the boom.

2. Disconnect the cable from the drum for the boom. Remove the old cable.

3. Unroll the new cable from the spool.

NOTICE
Unroll all of the cable from the spool. Lay the wire rope on a flat surface. Never lift the wire rope off the spool in coils.

4. Install the cable to the drum for the boom. Insert the end of the cable downward through the slot in the drum. Form a loop and insert the cable end upward through the slot. Insert the wedge into the loop in the cable. Pull the cable in order to seat the wedge and the cable in the pocket.

5. Wind one half of the cable on the drum. Wind the cable evenly across the drum.

6. Install the cable from the winch to sheave (1) in the upper sheave block. Install the cable over sheave (1) from the front of the machine toward the rear of the machine.

7. Install the cable under sheave (2) in the lower sheave block.

8. Install the cable over sheave (3) in the upper sheave block.

9. Insert the cable into the pocket and around wedge (4) . Use a mallet to tap the wedge and the cable into the pocket.

10. Insert the cable end through clamp (5) . Tighten the nuts on the clamp.
