The leveling blade system is a mechanically controlled, hydraulically operated system. The leveling blade system is composed of three main components:
- Control valve (1)
- Cylinder (2)
- Leveling blade
Hydraulic oil for the leveling blade system is provided by the gear pump.

Control valve (1) is located under the operator platform. Oil flows from the gear pump to control valve (1).

Blade control lever (5) shifts the control valve between four positions. The control valve is composed of the following four positions:
- RAISE
- HOLD
- LOWER
- FLOAT

Leveling blade is attached to the machine at the drum yoke. Control valve (1) directs oil to the blade cylinder (2) and away from the blade cylinder. The blade is raised and lowered by retracting or extending cylinder (2). The maximum depth of cut with the leveling blade is 76.2 mm (3.00 inch).
