DASA 280 Measuring and Control System Caterpillar

Programming Times

Usage:

HH45 2JZ
The sub-menu for the programming times can be used to control the operation of the harvester head during felling and processing. The times for the harvester head must be adjusted properly for efficient performance.

To enter the sub-menu of the programming times, first move the toggle switch on the control panel to the right. This activates the programming mode. Then press "2" and "ENTER". The values that are shown in the following illustrations are the default values.

There are three pages of "Pause Times" that can be adjusted. To change pages, use the right arrow key.

The time entry indicates a unit of time. One unit of time is equal to 0.05 seconds. Twenty units of time is equal to 1 second. To change a value, press the number for the time. Press "ENTER". The cursor will move to the time entry. Enter the new value and press "ENTER".

A brief explanation of each pause time follows:

(01) "Direction Change" - The feed rollers pause for this amount of time before the direction of rotation changes. This occurs when the "START" key is used to process a tree. The pause time decreases the stress on the harvester head.

(02) "Before Sawing" - During automatic cross-cutting, the harvester head pauses for this amount of time before cutting the log. This allows time for the operator to select a different length for the log.

(03) "L. Knives Opening Time" - The delimbing knives open for this amount of time when the harvester head tilts into the UP position. The delimbing knives must open completely in order for the diameter sensors to reset to zero.

(04) "Holding Arm Opening Time" - The holding arm opens for this amount of time when the harvester head tilts into the UP position.

(05) "F. Rollers Opening Time" - The feed roller arms open for this amount of time when the harvester head tilts into the UP position.

(07) "High P. Feed Rollers" - The feed rollers put high pressure on the tree for this amount of time when the tree is being fed through the harvester head. This time is only functional on the HH45 Harvester Head. High pressure prevents the feed rollers from slipping on the tree. The time is activated when the log starts to feed through the harvester head.

(08) "Jamming Sensitivity" - The feed rollers will turn without receiving a signal from the length sensor for this amount of time. This pause time is used to signal the DASA that the feed rollers are spinning.

(09) "Delay Tilt Up" - The harvester head delays tilting upward for this amount of time so that the delimbing knives, feed rollers, and holding arm can open.

(10) "Delay Pump" - The output of the implement pump remains at high pressure for this amount of time between the stopping of the feed rollers and the cutting of the saw. This pause time allows a faster response for cutting. Also, the pump output remains at high pressure for the amount of time between the stop of cutting and the start of the feeding.

(11) "L. Knives Pulse Opening" - The delimbing knives open for this amount of time when the tree starts feeding through the harvester head. Opening of the delimbing knives eases the start of feeding.

Note: The "L. Knives Pulse Opening" time is only functional when the "START" button is used to begin processing. The delimbing knives do not open when one of the feed buttons is pressed.

(12) "Feed Jamming Reverse" - When the harvester head feeds a tree in the reverse direction after jamming, the feed rollers will reverse for this amount of time without receiving a pulse from the length sensor. This pause time prevents the feed rollers from spinning on the log during reversing. After this amount of time passes, the feed rollers will automatically feed the tree in the forward direction.

(13) "Delay Color" - The color marking system delays spraying for this amount of time after the saw has finished cutting. The time must be adjusted so that the paint is sprayed on the end of the log.

(14) "Color Time" - The color marking system sprays the color on the end of the log for this amount of time.
