Brake Light Pressure Switch - Remove and Install

Usage:

793C 4AR

Removal Procedure

Start By:

  1. Install the retaining cable. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Truck Body Retaining Cable - Remove and Install" for the correct procedure.
  2. Remove the rear compartment cover for the cab. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Cover (Cab Rear) - Remove and Install" for the correct procedure.

------ WARNING! ------

In order to prevent possible personal injury, release the air pressure from the air tank before disconnecting any components of the air system.

  1. Release the air pressure from the air tank.

  1. Remove two nuts (2) and the two washers. Disconnect wiring harness (3) .

  1. Remove brake light pressure switch (1) .

Installation Procedure

Note: Before installation, apply 5P-3413 Pipe Sealant to the external tapered threads.

Note: During installation, tighten the brake light pressure switch to a torque of 30 ± 5 N·m (22.1 ± 3.7 lb ft).

Note: During installation, the brake light pressure switch should be mounted so the terminals are facing downward.

  1. Install brake light pressure switch (1) .

    Note: During installation, tighten nuts (2) to a torque of 30 ± 5 N·m (22.1 ± 3.7 lb ft).

  1. Connect wiring harness (3). Install the two washers and two nuts (2) .

End By:

  1. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Starting with an External Air Supply" in order to refill the air tank.
  2. Install the rear compartment cover of the cab. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Cover (Cab Rear) - Remove and Install" for the correct procedure.
  3. Disconnect the retaining cable. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Truck Body Retaining Cable - Remove and Install" for the correct procedure.
