SUBJECT: THE MAGNETS ON THE 178-5062 MAGNETIC SCREEN MAY LOOSEN IN OPERATION

PROBLEM:

Magnets are bonded to the 178-5062 magnetic screen assembly used in the transmission suction screen housing. An incorrect adhesive may have been used on some magnetic screen assemblies. The bonding of the magnets may not be strong enough to retain the magnets to the tube while in operation. If the bond is too weak the magnets will fall off into the suction screen.

SOLUTION:

When transmission maintenance is performed, check the magnetic screen assembly for loose magnets.

If there are any further questions, please notify Service Engineer Dave Smith (Phone: 309-494-0923, EMAIL: smithdd@cat.com).
