SUBJECT: 777D Final Drive Wear on Bearing and/or Thrust Plate
PROBLEM:
The 126-8150 Final Drive Group that contains the 2G-6203 Planetary Carrier, may have a problem with interference between the face of the 229-7377 Bearing and the 159-7448 Gear. Another interference problem may also occur between the end of the axle shaft and the face of the 2G-4553 Plate. The serial numbers for the machines with this issue are: AGC1186-AGC1206 and AGC1209-AGC1243. The machines outside of these serial number ranges will not have this issue.
SOLUTION:
New Spacer
(A) 5.00 +/-0.13 mm (0.197 +/-.005 inch)
Machine the spacer to a thickness of 5.00 +/- 0.13 mm (0.197 +/-.005 inch). Approximately 3.00 mm (0.118 inch) of material will have to be removed. Stamp the new part number, 238-4402, onto the surface of the spacer. Grind the area in which the part number was stamped in order to make the area smooth.
Grind the part number off of the 2G-6203 Planetary Carrier. Stamp the new part number, 238-4403, onto the surface of the planetary carrier.
Planetary Carrier
Replace the four 0S-1588 bolts with four shorter bolts. Use four 1A-2029 bolts to mount the 238-4402 Spacer on to the axle shaft.
