SUBJECT: Use Only 6 Micron Filters on the Transmissions for the Newer Motor Graders
PROBLEM:
Some documents specify the 1R-0719 Oil Filter Element Assembly as an alternate within the 207-3819 Oil Filter. The alternate 1R-0719 Filter Element Assembly is not compatible with the requirements of the 207-3819 Oil Filter. The alternate element will filter out particles that are 33 micron particles and larger. Also, the alternate 1R-0719 Element has a smaller hole that will not accept the retainer.
SOLUTION:
Do not use the 1R-0719 Filter Element Assembly. This filter will allow contaminants that are large enough to damage the transmission components into the system. By using this filter, the transmission components will fail prematurely. The only filters that should be used for this application are the 4T-3131 Filter Element Assembly and the 132-8875 Filter Element Assembly. Both of these elements will filter out contaminants that are 6 micron and larger.
