Problem:
A build up of engineering tolerances can cause the 9R1788 powdered metal slide frame locking plates to break and fall from their location.
Solution:
For production, the depth of the 9R8639 cylinder bores has been decreased by 1mm to reduce the possibility of the 9R1788 plate from falling out. For the Field, a Service replacement, plate 1210553 has been released with a 1mm longer shoulder. Refer to Part Book 428B, SEBP1982, Page 193, Item 16 for location of the 9R1788 Plate.
