9J-4693 Brake Accumulator Charging Valve Caterpillar

9J-4693 Brake Accumulator Charging Valve

Usage:

WHEEL LOADERS988F (8YG755-1010),
992D (7MJ318-390) WHEEL LOADERS;
834B (92Z582-591) WHEEL TRACTORS;
836 (3RL43-76) COMPACTORS

Problem:

The 9J-4693 Brake Accumulator Charging Valve was not reliable on the 988F (8YG755-1010) and 992D (7MJ318-390) Wheel Loaders, the 834B (92Z582-591) Wheel Tractors, and 836 (3RL43-76) Compactors. These machines were made between September 1, 1994 and February 28, 1995.

The root cause of the failure is an improperly machined detent position on the 6J-7335 Charging Valve Stem (part of 9J-4694 Basic Valve Group), which causes the detent mechanism to stick in the pump-to-tank position.

The failure of the brake accumulator charging valve results in the parking/secondary brake being applied. The parking/secondary brake cannot be released because the accumulator pressure is too low, and is not being charged because of the failed brake accumulator charging valve.

Solution:

The solution to this failure is to replace the complete 9J-4693 Brake Accumulator Charging Valve group.
