If administered before failure, use "56" as the Warranty Claim Description Code and "T" as the SIMS Description code. If administered after failure, use "96" as the Warranty Claim Description Code, and "Z" as the SIMS Description Code. |

PROBLEM
The existing 437-7162 Piston Ring can have issues with break in under low load factor operation in certain applications on certain 12M 3, 140M 3, and 160M 3 Motor Graders. If the existing piston ring does not break in properly it will cause excessive oil consumption. |

ACTION REQUIRED
Before the sale of any Motor Grader identified in the Affected Product into a low load application, such as county road maintenance, it is recommended that this program be completed. Removal of the engine is required for a dyno break in. A minimum of 6 hours run time should be completed at 90% load or greater. Reference UENR3479 for engine removal and installation guidance. |
