In order to allow equitable parts availability to all participating dealers, please limit your initial parts order to not exceed 3% of dealership population. This is an initial order recommendation only, and the ultimate responsibility for ordering the total number of parts needed to satisfy the program lies with the dealer. |
ACTION REQUIRED
Upon failure of the pin bushing replace with new rod assemblies. Refer to the Disassembly and Assembly manual and the attached Rework Procedure for cylinder pack replacement. Document the rod serial number with photos and record what engine serial number they were removed from. |

1. Remove engine from equipment chassis. Reference SENR9418 Disassembly and Assembly for details to remove engine arrangement from machine chassis and to separate the engine from transmission. Install fluid line connection protection to prevent debris entry. 2. Reference Disassembly and Assembly SENR5598 for details of engine disassembly and assembly. Mount engine assembly to suitable tooling to allow oil pan and cylinder head assembly removal. 3. Remove fuel injector lines, valve mechanism cover, valve mechanism group, and cylinder head group. Note: It is not necessary to remove exhaust manifold, turbocharger, or fuel injectors from the cylinder head assembly to perform this rework procedure. 4. Disconnect turbocharger oil supply tube assembly and oil drain tube assembly from the turbocharger and cylinder block assembly. 5. Remove engine oil sump and engine oil pump pickup tube assembly. 6. Remove piston and connecting rod assemblies from the cylinder block. a. Remove connecting rod bolt nuts and rod cap. b. Install bolt thread protection on connecting rod bolts to prevent damage to crankshaft journal. c. Remove the piston cooling jets before removing piston and connecting rod assembly. Carefully remove piston & rod gp. from cylinder bore. Re-install connecting rod cap to rod and finger tighten nuts. d. Document the rod serial number with photos and the engine serial number they were removed from. This information must be included in the claim story. 7. Remove liner from the cylinder block. Discard the liners and piston and rod group. 8. Assemble replacement cylinder pack. Reference SENR5598 Pistons and Connecting - Assemble. 9. Install the pistons and connecting rods into cylinder block assembly. Refer to SENR5598 Disassembly and Assembly, "Pistons and Connecting Rods - Install" 10. The remaining engine assembly is the reverse of above steps. Reference SENR5598 and SENR1030 for details on engine assembly, torque specifications and valve lash setting specifications. Note: Do not reuse cylinder head bolts, O-ring seals or gaskets on joints that were separated during this rework procedure. 11. Re-install engine assembly onto transmission and into machine per SENR9418 Disassembly and Assembly. Do not reuse O-ring seals or gaskets on joints that were separated during this rework procedure.
