--------------- END SUPPLEMENT ---------------

Description of Change: In some applications, the wear strip for the center blade tip cylinder bracket may wear at a quicker rate than the wear strips for the outside blade brackets. A new blade tip cylinder bracket allows the center wear strip to share the load with the outside wear strips. By adding blocks, the former blade tip cylinder bracket can be adapted to the new design.

Illustration 1. 159-8127 Blade Tip Cylinder Bracket.

Adaptable To: The former 8W-1751 Bracket, on earlier machines, can be adapted to the new design with the following procedure.

Procedure to Adapt Earlier Machines

1. Remove the 8W-5229 Side-shift Cylinder Guard and 8W-5231 Side-shift Cylinder Guard.

2. Cut a 115.0 mm (4.53 in) by 80.0 mm (3.15 in) opening on each guard. Refer to Illustration 2 and Table 1.

3. Remove the two 8W-1749 Retainer Plates from the 8W-1751 Tip Cylinder Bracket. Remove used 5T-8367 Wear Strip and shims from under the tip cylinder bracket.

NOTE: Save the 8W-1749 Retainer Plates for later assembly.

4. Install two new 5T-8367 Wear Strips (Item 3) to the 8W-1751 Tip Cylinder Bracket (Item 9).

NOTE: Center wear strip so that an equal amount will be showing on either side.

5. Using six new 1D-4569 Bolts (Item 6) and 5P-8245 Washers (Item 7) assemble one 169-0919 Block (Item 5) to each side of 8W-1751 Tip Cylinder Bracket (Item 9) over the exposed wear strip.

NOTE: Retainer plates will be assembled later.

6. Shim space between wear strip and tip cylinder bracket, using the new 2G-3219 Shims (Item 1) and 2G-3221 Shims (Item 2) as required to maintain 0.13 mm (.01 in) to 0.89 mm (.04 in) clearance between the blade rail and wear strip.

7. Remove the bolts and washers previously installed in Step 5. Using these bolts and washers assemble the 8W-1749 Retainer Plates (Item 8) to the tip cylinder bracket. Tighten the bolts to a torque value of 85 to 125 N·m (62.9 to 92.5 lb ft).

8. Replace the four 5T-8366 Wear Strips on the outside blade brackets. Refer to the appropriate Operation and Maintenance Manual for the procedure.

9. Lubricate moldboard rail with 1U-8268 Lubricant.

10. Install the modified side-shift cylinder guards, which were removed in Step 1.
