1. Place a suitable container under the drain valve (1) of the secondary fuel filter. Open the drain valve (1) on the right of the secondary fuel filter.
2. Push down on top of the Fuel Priming Pump Plunger (2) and release the fuel priming plunger in order to operate the fuel priming pump. Operate the Fuel Priming Pump Plunger (2) in order to fill the new filter element. Continue to prime the fuel system until a steady flow of fuel comes out of the Drain Valve (1). Close the Drain Valve (1) of the secondary fuel filter.
3. Pump the fuel system priming pump for ten additional strokes. The fuel system is primed when resistance is felt in the system.
4. Start the engine. If the engine will not start, further priming is necessary. If the engine starts but the engine continues to misfire, further priming is necessary. If the engine starts but the engine continues to emit smoke, further priming is necessary.
5. If the engine starts but the engine runs rough, continue to run the engine at low idle. Continue to run the engine at low idle until the engine runs smoothly. If all other required work is completed, close the engine hood.
