Description of Change:

------ WARNING! ------

Personal injury or death can result from sudden suspension cylinder movement. Sudden movement, up or down, can cause the clearance above your head to change rapidly. Read all warning labels on the suspension cylinders before servicing. Do not check the oil in the suspension cylinder until all the nitrogen pressure has been released. Do not, under any condition, remove valves, cover or plugs from the cylinder unless the rod is fully retracted and all the nitrogen pressure is released. Do not stand under the machine when testing or adjusting the suspension cylinders.

-------WARNING!-------

The front strut assemblies of the Off-Highway trucks are not charged when they are shipped. The strut assemblies must be discharged anytime the retainer plate is removed. Retainers (B), shown in Illustration 2, can become dislodged during disassembly or installation of the front suspension strut. The front suspension strut Plate (C) maintains the correct position of the retainers.

Illustration 1. View of the front strut assembly and the position of the Retainer Plate (D).

Illustration 2. View of the Plate (C) installed.

The three Retainers (B) will be kept in their correct position when the Plate (C) is installed to the front suspension strut End (A).

Use the following table for proper Plate (C) selection.

Use the following instructions to install Plate (C):

1. Apply 154-9731 or 155-0695 Thread Lock Compound to threads of 6H-1717 Bolt (E).

2. Install the Plate (C) onto the suspension strut End (A) with one 6H-1717 Bolt (E) and one 5P-8245 Washer (F).

3. Tighten the 6H-1717 Bolt (E) to a torque of 33 N·m (24 lb ft).
