--------------- END SUPPLEMENT ---------------

Description of Change: A new water separator group is now used on Challenger 35, 45, and 55 Agricultural Tractors and 924F and 938G Wheel Loaders. The new "reverse flow" separator ensures that fuel passes through the element before coming in contact with the priming pump. This change should prevent the possibility of debris lodging in the priming pump. The filter elements have also changed.

Adaptable To: The 127-6449 Water Separator Group was replaced by the 149-2683 Water Separator Group, effective with the Challenger 35 (8DN989, 993-Up), Challenger 45 (1DR2014-2018, 2020-2022, 2024-2047, 2049-Up), and Challenger 55 (7DM1456-1457, 1461-1471, 1473-1474, 1476-Up) Agricultural Tractors. The change is also effective for the 924F (4YN1534-Up) and 938G (9HS281-Up) Wheel Loaders. The new Water Separator Group is not easily retrofittable to earlier machines, as the fuel inlet and outlet ports are reversed, and the fittings are a larger size.

The former 127-6449 Water Separator Group uses the 117-4089 Element. The 149-2683 Water Separator Group uses the 151-2409 Element. The direction of flow is opposite on each of these elements. For this reason, the elements are functionally not interchangeable. To prevent incorrect installation, the elements are "keyed" differently at the top. With effort, however, an element can be installed on the incorrect water separator group. Use the following illustration to differentiate the two filter types. The two can be distinguished by the style of the mounting pads, (the former uses a rectangular pad, the new uses a triangular shape). In addition, the keys can be visually verified between the filter base and the element.
