8W-4100 Final Drive Group

1. Park the machine on a level surface.

2. Lift and support the machine so the rear wheels are off the ground and the machine is in a stable position.

3. Drain the oil from the tandem housing and remove tandem cover (1).

4. Remove lock (4), washer (5), and bolt (6).

5. While turning the tires, tighten the nut (2) with service tool 5P-4204 Spanner Wrench to the adjust torque specified in the chart.

6. Hit the hub of sprocket (3) with a large punch and hammer. This seats the sprockets.

7. Repeat Steps 5 and 6 until the nut (2) does not turn at the adjust torque value.

8. Loosen the nut (2) one locking position.

9. With the tires held stationary, tighten nut (2) to the final torque specified in the chart.

10. If the nut (2) is in a locking position, install the lock (4), washer (5), and bolt (6).

11. If the nut (2) is not in a locking position, tighten the nut (2) to the next nearest locking position and install the lock (4), washer (5), and bolt (6).

12. Install the tandem cover (1) and fill the tandem housing with oil to the correct level.

13. Repeat Steps 1 through 12 for the other final drive.
