There may be cases where it is necessary to align the suspension frame group on the tractor with the output transfer gearbox. Use the method that follows to align the front suspension frame group with the output transfer gearbox.
Front Suspension Frame Group Components
1. With the suspension frame group in position, and the suspension arm bearings in place, move the axle (1) to the extreme left. Impact the bearing with a soft mallet to make sure the bearing is fully seated.
2. Install two 3.0 mm (.12 in) thick, 7U-6608 Shims (2) and two 1.0 mm (.04 in) thick 6U-1345 Shims (3). Install the 7U-8419 Cap (4) using 8T-4896 Washers and 0S-1590 Bolts.
3. Use a suitable pry bar to apply tension to the right axle arm to relieve the "spring" effect which may occur later. Make sure the driveshaft universal joints are aligned. Use a straight edge along the driveshaft universal joints to check the alignment.
4. If necessary, add or remove shims until Step 3 can be repeated until the driveshaft universal joints are aligned.
5. Install shims to the right bearing until the shim surface is just below the bearing face. Install the 7U-8419 Cap using 8T-4896 Washers and 0S-1590 Bolts.
6. Make sure the correct amount of shims have been installed to give uniform side-to-side movement of the front suspension frame group. The specified dimension is 10.0 mm (.39 in) side-to-side. Use a pry bar to apply pressure to each side of the axle while checking for any movement.
