Service Magazine; December 11, 1995; Page 1; "Drawbar Cushion Stops Reduce Noise And Shock" for Challenger 65 (7YC), Challenger 65B (7YC), Challenger 65C (2ZJ), Challenger 65D (2ZJ), Challener 70C (2YL), Challenger 75 (4CJ), Challenger75C (4KK), and Challenger 85C (9TK) Agricultural Tractors.

The effective PIN number for the Challenger 75C Agricultural Tractor was incorrect. The correct effective PIN number the Challenger 75C Agricultural Tractor is (4KK2230).

--------------- END SUPPLEMENT ---------------

Description of Change: A new drawbar cushion stop is used. The new cushion stop reduces the noise and shock associated with the drawbar hitting the metal stop when the tractor turns with the drawbar unpinned. Steering performance is enhanced by unpinning the drawbar in many applications.

Adaptable To: The new 6K-1510 Stop is effective with Challenger 65D (2ZJ1965), Challenger 75C (4KK6125), and Challenger 85C (9TK1765). The new 6K-1510 Stop is adaptable to all earlier Challenger 65 (7YC), Challenger 65B (7YC), Challenger 75 (4CJ), Challenger 65C (2ZJ), Challenger 70C (2YL), Challenger 75C (4KK), and Challenger 85C (9TK) Agricultural Tractors. Use the following procedure to install the cushion stops.

Procedure To Install Cushion Stops On Standard Drawbar

1. If the drawbar is off the machine, locate blocks (1) 65 mm (2.6 in) inboard and parallel to the outer support plate. See Illustration 1, Dimension (A)

2. If the drawbar is on the machine, swing the drawbar to the outside hole and pin it in place. Attach stop (2) to block (1). Place the stop against the outer side of the drawbar. Tack weld in place and repeat the procedure on the other side. Remove stop (2) before welding the blocks in place to prevent damage to the rubber on the stop.

3. Weld blocks (1) to the support assembly. The weld should be a 10 mm (.4 in) fillet weld with a minimum of 1.5 mm (.06 in) penetration.

NOTE: Do not exceed a 12 mm (.5 in) weld fillet to prevent interference with the cushion stop.

4. Install stops (2) using bolts (3) and washers (4).

Procedure To Install Cushion Stops On Three-Point Hitch

Illustration 2. Part of 3W-7235 Support Assembly on three-point hitch.

1. Cut off the existing drawbar stops (C).

2. See Illustration 2 and the chart to locate the mounting holes on both sides of the 3W-7235 Support Assembly.

3. Drill and tap four holes (B).

4. Install stop (2) using bolts (3) and washers (4).
