New Suspension Cylinder Protection Improves Service Life Of Cylinder Rod Wiper Seal{7213}

Usage:

D20D (9MG1-UP),
D250D (6NG1-UP),
D250E (5TN),
D300E (7FN) Articulated Trucks

Description of Change: A cover assembly is now being used to protect the exposed cylinder rod surface on the front suspension cylinders. The cover assembly will help keep dirt and debris off the suspension cylinder rod. Keeping the cylinder rod free of dirt and debris will improve the service life of the cylinder rod wiper seal.

Adaptable To: The 124-8354 Cover Assembly is effective with D250E (5TN1) and D300E (7FN1) Articulated Trucks. The 124-8354 Cover Assembly can be installed on all D20D and D250D Articulated Trucks using one 095-1396 Hose Clamp and one 3A-6745 Hose Clamp to hold the 124-8354 Cover Assembly in position.

Use the following method to install the 124-8354 Cover Assembly on D20D and D250D Articulated Trucks.

(1) 124-8354 Cover Assembly. (2) 095-1396. (3) 3A-6745 Hose Clamp. (4) Front suspension cylinder.

1. Lay the cover assembly (1) as flat as possible. Thread the small hose clamp (2) through the shortest sleeve on the cover assembly (1).

2. Thread the large hose clamp (3) through the longest sleeve on the cover assembly (2).

3. Fully extend the front suspension cylinder using the method given in the Service Manual.

4. Wrap the cover assembly with the hose clamps around the front suspension cylinder (4).

5. Position the cover assembly and large hose clamp so it overlaps the front suspension cylinder tube by about 25.4 mm (1.00 in). Tighten the large hose clamp (3).

6. Position the other end of the cover assembly and short hose clamp as close to the suspension cylinder rod eye as possible. Tighten the small hole clamp (2).

7. Close the Velcro® fastener.

8. Adjust the suspension ride height using the method in the Service Manual.

NOTE: When adjusting the ride hieght, it will be necessary to feel for the end of the suspension cylinder tube through the cover assembly to make an accurate measurement.
