Rear Suspension Cylinder Charge Can Be Checked By Measuring Between The Rear Suspension Cylinger Retaining Pins {7213}

Usage:

769C (01X) Truck;
771C (3BJ) Quarry Truck

Reference: Special Instruction, Suspension Cylinder Servicing, All Off-Highway Trucks And Tractors, SEHS9411-01.

The dimensions for properly charged rear suspension cylinders on 769C Trucks and 771C Quarry Trucks is 910.0 ± 6.5 mm (35.83 ± .25 in). The specifications in some publications was not correct. When charging the rear suspension cylinders on 769C Trucks and 771C Quarry Trucks, use only the information given in the Reference material.

NOTE: This dimension DOES NOT indicate that the rear suspension cylinder is charged correctly. It is possible for the strut measurement on an empty machine to show the proper operating range, especially if the oil level is too low and the nitrogen charge too high. This situation may result in the struts bottoming out when the machine is loaded.

The procedure in the Reference material must be followed to make sure the suspension cylinder has the correct oil and nitrogen charge. Component damage and Payload Measurement System inaccuracy can result if the suspension cylinder is not charged correctly.
