New VIMS Download Cable Is Now Available{7451}

Usage:

793B (1HL),
789B (7EK),
785B (6HK) Trucks;
784B (5RK) Tractor;
5230 (7LL),
5130 (7TJ, 5ZL) Excavators

Description of Change: A new VIMS download cable is now available. The new cable assembly permits the machine's electrical system to be powered from the outside-cab download connector without entering the cab to turn on the electrical system.

Adaptable To: The new 127-9797 Cable Assembly is a direct replacement for the former 9X-3393 Cable Group. The former 9X-3393 Cable Group contained one 9X-3075 Cable and one 4C-6805 Adapter Cable Assembly (RS232). The 9X-3075 Cable (not serviced) was the actual download cable to connect VIMS to the service tool (PC). The 4C-6805 Adapter Cable Assembly (RS232) adapts the 9X3075 Cable at the PC end (DB-9) to a DB-25 connector for those PCs that require this connection for RS-232 communication. The new cable assembly can be used on the machines listed above for both the inside-cab and outside-cab connectors.

The download cable in the 9X-3393 Cable Group and the 127-9797 Cable Assembly are identical except the 127-9797 Cable Assembly permits the machine electrical system to be powered from the outside-cab download connector without entering the cab to turn on the electrical system.

The 4C-6805 Adapter Cable Assembly (RS232) is still serviced separately but is not part of the 127-9797 Cable Assembly.

Existing 9X-3393 Cable Groups can be converted to a 127-9797 Cable Assembly by removing the MS connector backshell and soldering an 18 gauge jumper wire from contact A to E. These are the only two unused contacts.

When the new 127-9797 Cable Assembly is used with only the download connector that is outside the cab, it will allow the service key switch to turn on the electrical system just as the cab key start switch does. The electrical system must be powered to download VIMS. When the 127-9797 Cable Assembly is disconnected from the outside-cab download connector, the electrical system will turn off. The service key switch should also be turned off and the key removed. If the electrical system cannot be powered from outside the cab as described, check that the outside-cab connector and service key switch are wired according to the machine's schematic.

NOTE: The former 9X-3393 Cable Group has also been the cable for all TPMS applications for downloading of TPMS data. The new 127-9797 Cable Assembly is fully compatible with all TPMS applications.
