Description of Change: A new piston crown assembly is used in the piston and rod group in the 3500 Machine Engines in the above machines. The new piston crown assembly includes new bearings. The new bearings are made from an improved material that will provide increased service life.

Adaptable To: The new 114-0382 Piston Crown Assembly is a direct replacement for the former 6I-2862 Piston Crown Assembly in the 6I-2861 Piston And Rod Group. The former piston crown assembly is canceled. The new piston crown assembly is in effect as shown in the chart.

NOTE: Caterpillar Diesel Engine Oil (CF-4) or premium engine oil, with API CF-4 specifications, should be used. These oils will help reduce the tendency for carbon build up in the ring grooves. Both "CE" and "CD" specification oil are NOT acceptable for use with these pistons.
