Transmission Control Group Has Been Changed To Improve Gear Selection{3156}

D40D (2JJ),
D400D (8TF, 4EJ) Articulated Trucks

Reference: Service Manual Module, Systems Operation Testing And Adjusting Specifications, SENR8197.

Description of Change: The transmission control group has been changed to improve shifting. The new transmission control group reduces the possibility of the control lever slipping and makes gear selection easier and more positive.

Adaptable To: The new transmission control group is effective with D40D (2JJ101) and D400D (8TF881, 4EJ21) Articulated Trucks. The new transmission control group can be installed on earlier machines using the illustrations and method that follows.

1. Disconnect the transmission control cables from the transmission control shaft assemblies.

2. Remove the shift levers, springs and shaft assemblies.

3. Install the new parts as shown in the illustration and chart.

4. Adjust the shift linkage as outlined in the Service Manual.
