Usage:

All Caterpillar Products Equipped With Air Conditioners

Reference: Service Manual; SENR3334-02; Air Conditioning And Heating.

Reference: Service Manual; SENR5664-01; Air Conditioning And Heating Systems With R-134a Refrigerant.

Reference: Special Instruction; SEHS9734; Retrofitting R-12 Air Conditioning To R-134a Refrigerant.

It is important that the correct air conditioning oil be used for the system being serviced. The correct oil for the type of system and compressor is shown in the following charts.

When installing a new or remanufactured compressor on a machine that had previously been retrofitted from R-12 to R-134a refrigerant, the oil must be drained from the new or remanufactured compressor and replaced with 177 mL (6 fluid oz.) of 4C-2960 Oil (Ester) to be compatible with the ester oil already in the system.

A retrofitted R-134a system may be identified by the retrofit label attached to the compressor block with tie-wraps, and by the 110-6395 Film over the original compressor label.
