Rocker Shaft Assembly And Push Rods

Usage:

Remove Rocker Shaft Assembly And Push Rods

1. Remove valve cover (1).

2. Disconnect oil line (3).

3. Remove nuts (4) that hold brackets to cylinder head.

4. Remove rocker shaft assembly (2).

5. Remove push rods.

6. Do Steps 1 through 5 again and remove rear rocker shaft assembly.

Install Rocker Shaft Assembly And Push Rods

1. Put the push rods (3) in place in the cylinder head.

2. Install rocker shaft assembly (2). Be sure each push rod makes correct contact with the screw (1) in rocker arm.

3. Install nuts that hold brackets to cylinder head.

4. Connect oil line (4).

5. Do Steps 1 through 3 again and install rear rocker shaft assembly.

6. Turn crankshaft to top center on compression stroke for No. 1 piston with tooling (A). See FINDING TOP CENTER COMPRESSION POSITION FOR NO. 1 PISTON in TESTING AND ADJUSTING SECTION.

7. Make an adjustment to valve clearance. Intake valve clearance is .018 in. (0.46 mm). Exhaust valve clearance is .030 in. (0.76 mm). With No. 1 piston at top center of compression stroke make an adjustment to intake valves 1, 2 and 4, exhaust valves 1, 3 and 5. Turn crankshaft 360° with tooling (A). Make an adjustment to intake valves 3, 5 and 6, exhaust valves 2, 4 and 6.

8. Install both valve covers (5).
