Oil Pump Drive

Usage:

Remove Oil Pump Drive

start by:

a) remove oil pan

1. Remove bolts from brackets (1) and (3). Remove oil pump drive (2).

Install Oil Pump Drive

1. Install oil pump drive. Two bolts in each bracket are ground body bolts and must be installed in holes (2) for rear bracket and holes (1) for front bracket.

end by:

a) install oil pan

Disassemble Oil Pump Drive

start by:

a) remove oil pump drive

1. Remove cotter pin, nut and washer that hold gear (1) on shaft.

2. Remove gear (1) with tooling (A).

3. Remove bearings from bracket (2) with tooling (B).

4. Remove cotter pin, nut and washer that hold gear (3) on shaft. Remove bracket from gear.

5. Remove gear (3) with tooling (C).

6. Remove bearings from bracket (4) with tooling (D).

Assemble Oil Pump Drive

1. Install bearings in bracket (1) with tooling (A). The edge of bearings must be .016 in. (0.40 mm) below surface of bracket.

2. Install bearings in other bracket with tooling (B). The edge of bearings must be .016 in. (0.40 mm) below surface of bracket.

NOTE: Oil holes (2) in both brackets must not be covered by bearings after they are installed.

3. Heat gear (3) to 375°F (191°C) and install gear on shaft.

4. Install bracket (4), washer (6), nut (7) and cotter pin. Install bracket on gear with bolt hole (5) in direction shown.

5. Install bracket (8) on shaft with bolt hole (10) in direction shown.

6. Heat gear (9) to 375°F (191°C) and install gear on shaft.

7. Install washer, nut (11) and cotter pin that hold gear (9) on shaft.

end by:

a) install oil pump drive
