Procedure For Replacing The 124-4596 Exhaust Port Thermocouple And 124-4598 Turbocharger Inlet And Exhaust Thermocouple In The Mounting And Electrical Sensor Groups{7498}

3616 (1PD, 1FN) Engines

Use the following procedure to install 124-4596 Exhaust Port Thermocouples and 124-4598 Turbocharger Inlet and Exhaust Thermocouples in the Mounting and Electrical Sensor Groups on these engines.

Content of the paragraph.

1. Remove the old thermocouple from the thermowell.

2. Push the new thermocouple all the way into the thermowell until the thermocouple contacts the bottom of the thermowell.

3. Pull the thermocouple approximately 3 mm (.1 in) back out of the thermowell.

4. While holding the thermocouple in this position, push the thermocouple ferrule into place in the thermowell.

5. Tighten the thermocouple nut to a torque of 12 N·m (16 lb ft).

NOTE: Replacement 164-0773 Nuts and replacement 164-0774 Ferrules are available for the thermocouples.
