The 164-3692 Pressure Sensor Groups were introduced in order to provide Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) pressure sensors that are compatible with the Computerized Monitoring System (CMS) on these engines. The 164-3692 Pressure Sensor Group is a direct replacement for the 107-3952 Pressure Sensor Group. The 107-3952 Pressure Sensor Group had previously been updated in an effort to improve the characteristics of the sensor output signal. Unfortunately, some change levels of the 107-3952 Pressure Sensor Group produced output signals that were not compatible with the CMS.
Some change levels of the 107-3952 Pressure Sensor Group, that are still in parts stock, may be successfully used on these engines. Refer to the tables for identification of the compatible sensors.
The sensors can be identified by the part number and change level that is stamped on the PWM converter (A).
NOTE: Two sensors are required for each engine. One sensor is required for unfiltered engine oil, and one sensor is required for filtered engine oil. The CMS compares the signals from the two sensors to determine the condition of the oil filters. Therefore, it is essential that both sensors are compatible with each other and with the CMS.
