138-8440 Component Cleaner May Damage Electrical Connectors {0644}

Usage:

All Caterpillar Engines

Description of Change: The 138-8440 Component Cleaner may damage certain plastic materials used in various electrical connectors. Do not use the 138-8440 Component Cleaner on any electrical connectors. If the interior surfaces of the connector (the electrical contacts, the seals, the insulators) require cleaning, use a cotton swab and denatured alcohol. It is important that the interior surfaces of the connector are clean and dry before reconnecting. If dirt or corrosion cannot be removed using the denatured alcohol, then the connector must be replaced.
