Usage:
G3516 (4EK) Engines in Landfill Applications
Description of Change: A new rear gear group is available for use on all G3516 (4EK) Engines in landfill applications. The corrosive environment in landfill applications could attack the brass bearing material used in the former rear gear group. The new rear gear group includes new gear assemblies with a new bearing material that better resist corrosive environment.
Adaptable To: The components of the new 121-4748 Rear Gear Group are identified in the chart and illustration. This new rear group replaces the 112-5674 Rear Gear Group in the 4P-8346 Basic Engine Arrangement for Landfill Applications. The rear gear groups are not available for parts service at the group level. The individual components of the group must be ordered.
NOTE: The 121-4749 Gear Assembly (10), 115-5277 Gear Assembly (14), and 121-4891 Thrust Washer (16), components of the new rear gear group, can be used to replace the 112-1554 Gear Assembly, 107-2477 Gear Assembly, and 101-1368 Thrust Washer in the 112-5674 Rear Gear Group.
