Usage:
3606 (8RB732-Up),
3608 (6MC593-Up),
3612 (9RC286-Up, 9FR21-Up, 2NZ176-Up),
3616 (1PD347-Up, 1FN150-Up) Engines
Description of Change: New cylinder head gaskets (combustion rings) are used in these engines. The new combustion rings move the contact area outward on the cylinder liner flange. This more evenly distributes the clamping loads on the cylinder liner.
Adaptable To: The new 145-7230 Gasket (combustion ring) is a direct replacement for the former 123-0247 Gasket in engines running on distillate fuels with dry liners. The new 166-7083 Gasket (combustion ring) is a direct replacement for the former 126-5986 Gasket in engines running on Heavy Fuel Oils (HFO) and using dry liners.
The new 145-7230 and 166-7083 Gaskets are not used on engines using the 111-1656 Flange Cooled Cylinder Liner. Engines running on distillate fuel and using the flange cooled cylinder liner must order the new 173-2669 Gasket as a direct replacement for the former 123-0247 Gasket. Engines running on HFO and using the flange cooled cylinder liners must order the new 173-2670 Gasket as a direct replacement for the former 126-5986 Gasket. The former gaskets are being canceled. The new gaskets (combustion rings) are in effect as listed above.
