New Piston And Rod Groups Used{1214,1215}

Usage:

G3408 (6NB),
G3412 (7DB, 3NK, 6ZM) Engines

Description of Change: New piston and rod groups are used on the above engines that are equipped with gallery cooled pistons. These new piston and rod groups include new piston body assemblies and new piston rings. The pistons and rings will allow a slight increase in oil consumption which will help reduce valve recession.

The G3408 (6NB) and G3412 (7DB) Engines require the same piston and rod group for both 9.7:1 and 8.5:1 compression ratios. Only the new rings are necessary to update these engines. (Note that the 8.5:1 compression ration engine is attained with a change to the camshaft and turbocharger. No camshaft or turbocharger changes are required on existing 8.5:1 compression ration engines.)

The G3408 (6RJ) and G3412 (3NK, 6ZM) Low Emission Engines require both a new piston body assembly and the new rings to achieve the target oil consumption.

Adaptable To: The chart identifies the new and former piston and rod groups and the new rings and piston body assemblies in each engine.
