NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the machine. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide", for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids in Caterpillar machines.

Dispose of fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

NOTE: Put identification marks on all lines, on all hoses, on all wires and on all tubes for installation purposes. Plug all lines, all hoses and all tubes. This will help prevent fluid loss and this will help to prevent contaminants from entering the system.

1. Disconnect the six hose assemblies from secondary steering diverter valve (2).

2. Attach a hoist and a suitable lifting sling to secondary steering diverter valve (2). Remove two bolts (1) and the washers that hold the secondary steering diverter valve to the transmission. Remove the secondary steering diverter valve from the machine. The weight of the secondary steering diverter valve is 44 kg (97 lb).

3. Remove the three bolts, the nuts and the washers that hold bracket (3) to diverter valve (2). Remove bracket (3) from the diverter valve.
