The new 155-1536 Valve Recession Tool Kit has been released for the G3500 Engines. The new Tool Group is used to check the valve recession from the top of the valve rotator to the top face of the cylinder head.
NOTE: Be sure to record a base measurement the first time you adjust the valves in order to accurately read the recession on subsequent measurements. The first scheduled service is at 1000 engine hours.
Chart A identifies the components of the 155-1536 Valve Recession Tool Kit. Chart B and the illustraiton identify the components of the 155-1555 Valve Recession Tool Group.

Procedure
1. Tighten the lower end of the 5P-4814 Collet Clamp (2) to the 155-1579 Base Assembly (3).
2. Insert the 158-5080 Dial Indicator Group (1) into the collet end of the base assembly. Finger tighten the upper end of the collet to hold the dial indicator.
3. Set the tool assembly on the 155-1643 Projection Gauge Block (5). Adjust the dial indicator up or down until the pointer is set at zero. Tighten the collet to the dial indicator.
4. Remove the valve cover and gently place the tool on the valve rotator. The extension rod should be touching the top deck of the cylinder head.
5. Read the valve rotator projection from the dial indicator, and record the number.
6. Repeat the procedure on the next valve.
7. Occasionally set hte tool on the prjection gauge block to verify the "zero" setting.
