Recommended Customer Communications Module (CCM) Electrical Power Source {1926}

Usage:

G3606 (3XF),
G3608 (4WF),
G3612 (1YG),
G3616 (4CG) Engines

The CCM is powered through the Customer Terminal Strip in the Engine Supervisory System (ESS) Control Panel, the CCM will remain powered up until the electrical power is disconnected from the ESS Control Panel. Turning the ESS Control Panel Mode Control Switch to the "OFF" position and pulling the main electrical power fuse will not remove the power from the CCM. If the CCM "locks up", the electrical power to the ESS Control Panel must be disconnected to allow the CCM to be reset.

Caterpillar recommends using the following procedure to route electrical power to the CCM through unused contacts in Slave Relay Number 1 (SR1) in the ESS Control Panel. This will remove power from the CCM when the ESS Control Panel Mode Control Switch is in the "OFF" position.

1. Shut down the engine and open the main electrical power fuse.

2. Install a jumper wire between SR1 terminals 63 and 64.

3. Install a wire from SR1 terminal 65 to Customer Terminal Strip terminal 380 (in the ESS Control Panel) or any other free terminal on the Customer Terminal Strip.

4. Connect the CCM electrical power input to the Customer Terminal Strip terminal used in Step 3.

5. Close the main power fuse and restart the engine.
