The above reverse rotation marine propulsion engines have a unique harness code to designate reverse rotation.
Reverse rotation is enabled by connecting the 998-BR lead to pin-40 of the Electronic Control Module (ECM), 40-pin C-Key.
NOTE: Service replacement harnesses are coded for standard rotation and must be changed if installed on a reverse rotation engine.
If an engine harness is coded incorrectly, the engine may start/run but will run poorly. It may run on only one bank of cylinders.
When an engine is queried via the Electronic Technician (ET), the incorrect rotation will show on the configuration screen. It will show STANDARD instead of REVERSE or REVERSE instead of STANDARD. Diagnostic codes 190-F07 and 342-F07 should show on the active diagnostic screen.
