Introduction

This Special Instruction provides the procedure to install the electrical kit on certain 307.5 - 310 next gen Mini Hydraulic Excavators.

Do not perform any procedure in this Special Instruction until you have read the information and you understand the information.

Attach a "Do Not Operate" warning tag or a similar warning tag to the start switch or to the controls before you service the equipment. These warning tags (Special Instruction, SEHS7332) are available from your Caterpillar dealer.

Installation Procedure

Location of bolts and bracket
(1) 504-6143 Plate
(2) 8T-4139 Bolt

  1. Remove bolts from current bracket on machine left side of stick. Place bracket (1) behind current bracket and install new two bolts (2) and torque to standard metric torque.

  2. Install harness assembly (3) into keyed hole and secure with lockwasher (4) and nut (5). Tighten nut (5) to 29 N·m (21.39 lb ft) to 31.5 N·m (23.23 lb ft). Route the harness along the aux line and secure with a tie strap at each end.

  3. Route harness assembly (3) following the hydraulic lines on the machine and using tie straps (6) to connect to them. Refer Illustration 4 and 5 for routing and tie straps (6) suggested locations.

  4. Continue routing harness (3) through the machine swing casting. The harness will be installed on top of the hoses routed through the swing casting and it will be attached to hoses using tie traps (6) as shown in Illustration 6.

  5. Route harness (3) through the frame passages as shown in Illustration 7.

  6. Connect harness (3) to harness (7) as shown in Illustration 8.

  7. Route harness (7) from the connection point of harness (3) to the back of the operator station following hoses and harness. using cable straps (8) to secure harness routing as shown in Illustration 9.

  8. Remove access cover assembly (A) to gain access to the back of the operator station.

  9. Assemble the pins of cab harness (7) to the Cab-Chassis connector as follows:

    1. Insert terminal T1 (A274–BK) into cavity 83

    2. Insert terminal T2 (J992-YL) into cavity 84

    3. Insert terminal T3 (J993–PK) into cavity 85

    4. Insert terminal T4 (J994-GY) into cavity 86

    5. Insert terminal T5 (J995–PU) into cavity 87

  10. Remove cover (B) from inside the operator station to gain access to the Cab-Chassis connector as shown in Illustration 12.

  11. Assemble the pins of cab harness (9) to the Cab-Chassis connector as follows:

    1. Insert terminal T1 (A274–BK) into cavity 83

    2. Insert terminal T2 (J992-YL) into cavity 84

    3. Insert terminal T3 (J993–PK) into cavity 85

    4. Insert terminal T4 (J994-GY) into cavity 86

    5. Insert terminal T5 (J995–PU) into cavity 87

  12. Route the portion of harness (9) with two connector into the left-hand side console.

  13. Uninstall switch bank. Install connector MU-CI (wires yellow/pink/pink) on the machine left and connector MU-C2 (wires gray/pink/purple) on the machine right.

  14. Reinstall switch bank. Install two rocker switches (10) into the switch positions. The switches are to be positioned as shown in Illustration 15.

  15. Route the other end of harness (9) behind the seat and into the right-hand side of the operator station, following and securing the harness to the main cab harness using cable straps (8).

  19. Install the cover (B) and cover (E) back in the operator station.

  20. Install cover assembly (A) back of the operator station.
