The problem that is identified below does not have a known permanent solution. Until a permanent solution is known, use the solution that is identified below.

Problem

A firmware issue is causing certain displays to not boot up properly.

The part numbers and serial numbers for the monitor displays impacted are listed in Table 1.

Solution

Note: Send the monitor display serial numbers before failure. The monitor display serial numbers cannot be recovered once the monitor displays go blank.

If the monitor displays that fall in the ranges laid out above, provide a list of impacted engine serial numbers back to Tomlinson_bart_j@cat.com for inclusion to the project.

Flash the monitor display with the 577-7187 Monitor Software Gp, refer to Engine News, M0106477, New Software is Now Available for Certain 7 inch and 13 inch Cat® Marine Displays.
