Improved Wiring For Battery Charger is Now Used on Certain Cat® Products {1408, 751B}

Description Of Change: Improved wiring for battery charger is now used on the products listed above. The improved wiring will ensure the battery charger to maintain proper voltage and improves service life of the component.

Adaptable To: The following changes are adaptable to the products within the listed serial numbers, and are effective with all products after the listed serial numbers.

Users experiencing voltage variations with the battery charger should perform the below procedure:

    (A) Battery Charger
    (B) Harness

  1. Locate (A) battery charger and (B) harness. Refer to Illustration 1.

  2. Remove the four screws and save the part. Remove the outer cover, refer to Illustration 2.

    (C) AC200 wire

  3. Connect (B) harness with nut inside and the connector outside as shown in Illustration 3.

  4. Install (C) AC200 wire to ground stud as shown in Illustration 3.

    (F) 229 wire to pin 7 (COM)
    (G) Y987 wire to pin 9 (FAIL)
    (H) 101 wire
    (J) 208 wire

  5. Check the internal wiring, verify that wires (F) 229 and (G) Y987 are not terminated to terminals 4 and 6.

  6. If the wires (F) 229 and (G) Y987 are terminated to terminals 4 and 6, then relocate them to terminals 7 and 9. Wire (F) 229 to pin 7 and (G) Y987 to pin 9 to insure proper landing.

  7. Set (K) DIP switch to 230V as shown in Illustration 5.

  8. Install the outer cover and tighten with the screws saved in Step 2.
