Introduction
The problem that is identified below does not have a known permanent solution. Until a permanent solution is known, use the solution that is identified below.
Problem
Customer may experience issues when communicating with the Product Link module (PLE601), over Ethernet. 423-0848 Control Harness As may have been built to an older revision level, with different pin out locations for multiple circuits, that are not consistent with current production.
In many cases, this will not cause an operating issue, but if an IP address is assigned to Ethernet Port 3, and the ECM is rebooted, the service tool may not be able to communicate with the PLE601.
Solution
Do not operate or work on this product unless you have read and understood the instruction and warnings in the relevant Operation and Maintenance Manuals and relevant service literature. Failure to follow the instructions or heed the warnings could result in injury or death. Proper care is your responsibility. |
Caterpillar is aware of this problem and is recommending the below interim solution.
Dealers can refer to Schematic , UENR7140 for wiring diagram. If necessary, relocate the circuit pin outs in the P-C1 70-pin connector as follows:
- Move wire 1412-P23 from pin 48 to pin 55
- Move wire 1414-P25 from pin 49 to pin 56
- Move wire 1408-P27 from pin 55 to pin 48
- Move wire 1410-P30 from pin 56 to pin 49
- Move wire 1415-P26 from pin 58 to pin 68
- Move wire 1413-P24 from pin 59 to pin 69
- Move wire 1411-P29 from pin 68 to pin 58
- Move wire 1409-P28 from pin 69 to pin 59
