Introduction
The problem that is identified below does not have a permanent solution. Until a permanent solution is known, use the solution that is identified below.
Problem
Certain Motor Graders may have an active and/or logged diagnostic code. As a result, the machine will not shift into higher gears 4, 5, 6, 7, or 8.
The fault codes that will potentially lead to this internal defect are listed in Table 1
Transmission/Chassis ECM (MID 027) | |
---|---|
DTC | Description |
2993–3 | Power Train Direction Selector Position Sensor #1: Voltage above normal |
2994–3 | Power Train Direction Selector Position Sensor #2: Voltage Above Normal |
5128–3 | Gear Control Position Sensor #1: Voltage Above Normal |
5129–3 | Gear Control Position Sensor #2: Voltage Above Normal |
3527-2 | Direction Selector : Erratic, Intermittent, or Incorrect |
There is an internal fault due to a manufacturing error causing the 466-0774 Transmission Control Gp (Shifter) to have a voltage error. Shifters built prior to 31 October 2018, are known to have this possible manufacturing defect.
Solution
Do not operate or work on this product unless you have read and understood the instruction and warnings in the relevant Operation and Maintenance Manuals and relevant service literature. Failure to follow the instructions or heed the warnings could result in injury or death. Proper care is your responsibility. |
If a machine experiences one of these fault codes, follow the current troubleshooting procedure for that fault code. If no fault is found after completing the troubleshooting procedure, install a new 466-0774 Transmission Control Gp (Shifter) that has a date of 01 November 2018, or later.
