Description Of Change: The new cylinder pack components prevent carbon buildup on the top land of the piston. The new liner has a sleeve (cuff) along with a new piston and ring design to prevent deposits and liner polishing.
Adaptable To: The following changes are adaptable to the products within the listed serial numbers, and are effective with all products after the listed serial numbers.
The new and former part numbers are listed in Table 1.

(2) | This part is applicable for old and new piston groups. |
The new 485-8003 Tool As (Ring Compressor) is available, which is compatible to work with cuffed and non-cuffed liners. The new 485-8003 Tool As (Ring Compressor) is designed to seat inside the cuff counter bore, eliminating the need for 471-6593 Tool As (Installation Tool).
Note: The connecting rods are reusable.
Note: Do not mix the single piece forged steel piston designed for the single piece cylinder system with the single piece forged steel piston designed for the cuff cylinder system. The rotating masses and system dynamics are different between the designs and are not compatible within the same engine.
Note: Make sure that 516-1856 Sleeve (Cuff Sleeve) is in each cylinder prior to installing the cylinder heads.
