308 Mini Hydraulic Excavators Caterpillar

Front Control System - If Equipped

Usage:

308 GK8

------ WARNING! ------

Stop any operation when the system shows any abnormity, and report it to Cat dealer.

If you continue operation with abnormal condition, critical incidents or fatal accident can happen.

Do not remove or disassemble the control devices, position sensors, or wires.

After replacing attachments, stick, or boom, the function may not function properly. Consult Cat dealers.

If larger bucket than standard bucket is used, it can hit cab.

When replacing bucket, consult Cat dealer.

When position center for front equipment is soaked in water, or when it is hit, and if you find any damage on it, perform operation check of front control device.

The machine is equipped with front linkage control device, which secure operators safety, as an additional device.

The front linkage control device consists of five functions.

  1. Collision prevention (stop/interference prevention) function

  2. Display of distance

  3. Cylinder rod end cushion

  4. Self-Diagnostic, Service function

  5. E-fence

Collision Prevention Function

------ WARNING! ------

Perform operational inspection to the system before using the machine. Critical accidents can occur if the machine is operated with unhealthy conditions.

Do not operate the machine relying only on the collision prevention system.

If some abnormality is found, immediately lower the work tool and stop operation. And consult Cat dealer.

Note: The collision prevention function and position limit function (E-fence) does not stop the attachment at a constant position every time. The function depends on hydraulic oil temperature and operation.

Illustration 1g06334865

When the stick or boom is retracted and boom is offset to the left, collision prevention function stops the front linkage or moves the linkage so interference to the cab is prevented.

Note: The system does not prevent the linkage from hitting blade and tracks.

Boom, Stick, or Offset-boom Slow Down/Stop Boundary, Countermove Boundary

Illustration 2g06334871

When boom, stick or offset boom is operated, when the work tool approaches to the interference prevention boundary in zone 1,2, or 4, audible warning comes out and boom, stick, or offset boom slows down or stops.

The slow-down of the boom, stick, or offset boom reduces shock when stopping.

In zone 3, the boom automatically counteracts only in raising operation to prevent interference to cab.

Note: The counteraction does not function in operations that do not contain boom operation, only slows down or stops the movement.

Auto Stop

Illustration 3g06334874

When the collision prevention function activates and the work tool automatically stops or counteracts, further operation (stick-in, offset to the left) is enabled.

If the work tool is moved away from the cab by boom-lowering, stick-out, or off-set to the right, operation returns to normal.

Note: Boom lowering may not function depending on the front attachment position.
