Description Of Change: The new starter group and solenoid kit now use copper for the wafer disk contacts to improve the resistance against corrosion.
Adaptable To: The following changes are adaptable to the products within the listed serial numbers, and are effective with all products after the listed serial numbers.
Table 1 contains the new part numbers for this change.

When servicing the starter solenoid, ensure that the orientation is correct as shown in Illustration 1. This will allow for proper drainage of moisture and contaminants from the shift lever housing.
Note: The 548-9596 Solenoid Kit is a serviceable component. The entire electrical starter group does not need to be replaced to fix the solenoid.
