Engine Oil Cooler - Remove and Install

Usage:

Removal Procedure

Start By:

  1. Remove low-pressure aftercooler.

  1. Remove bolts (4) and bracket (2). Remove P-clip (1). Remove bolts (5) and position tube assembly (3) out of the way.

  2. Remove tube assembly (6). Disconnect tubes assembly (7).

  3. Loosen nut (8). Remove bolts (9). Remove bolts (11) and remove tube assembly (10).

  4. Remove P-clip (12) and P-clip (13). Remove two bolts (14) and two bolts (15). Remove P-clip (17) and P-clip (18). Remove two bolts (20) and two bolts (21). Remove tube assembly (16) and tube assembly (19).

  5. Remove bolt (24). Remove seventeen bolts (22). Remove oil cooler assembly (25) and gasket (23).

  6. Remove plug (26) and plug (27). Remove plug (28) and plug (30). Remove adapter (29).

  7. Remove bolts (31) and washers (32). Remove oil cooler cover (33).

  8. Remove O-rings (34) from engine oil cooler (35).

Installation Procedure

  1. Install engine oil cooler (35) in the reverse order of removal.

    1. Tighten bolts (31) to a torque of 25 ± 3 N·m (221 ± 27 lb in).

    2. Tighten plug (30) to a torque of 80 ± 8 N·m (59 ± 6 lb ft).

    3. Tighten adapter (29) to a torque of 60 ± 6 N·m (44 ± 4 lb ft).

    4. Tighten plug (28) to a torque of 31 ± 3 N·m (274 ± 27 lb in).

    5. Tighten plug (27) to a torque of 80 ± 8 N·m (59 ± 6 lb ft).

    6. Tighten plug (26) to a torque of 80 ± 8 N·m (59 ± 6 lb ft).

    7. Tighten bolts (22) and bolt (24) to a primary torque of 12 ± 4 N·m (106 ± 35 lb in) in the order depicted in illustration 11. Next, tighten bolts (22) and bolt (24) to a final torque of 25 ± 3 N·m (221 ± 27 lb in) in the order depicted in illustration 11.

    8. Tighten bolts (21) to a torque of 25 ± 3 N·m (221 ± 27 lb in).

    9. Tighten bolts (20) to a torque of 25 ± 3 N·m (221 ± 27 lb in).

    10. Tighten bolts (18) to a torque of 25 ± 3 N·m (221 ± 27 lb in).

    11. Tighten bolts (17) to a torque of 25 ± 3 N·m (221 ± 27 lb in).

    12. Tighten bolts (15) to a torque of 25 ± 3 N·m (221 ± 27 lb in).

    13. Tighten bolts (14) to a torque of 25 ± 3 N·m (221 ± 27 lb in).

    14. Tighten bolts (13) to a torque of 25 ± 3 N·m (221 ± 27 lb in).

    15. Tighten bolts (12) to a torque of 25 ± 3 N·m (221 ± 27 lb in).

    16. Tighten bolts (11) to a torque of 25 ± 3 N·m (221 ± 27 lb in).

    17. Tighten bolts (9) to a torque of 25 ± 3 N·m (221 ± 27 lb in).

    18. Tighten bolts (8) to a torque of 60 ± 6 N·m (44 ± 4 lb ft).

    19. Tighten bolts (7) to a torque of 40 ± 4 N·m (29 ± 3lb ft).

    20. Tighten tube assembly (6) to a torque of 30 ± 3 N·m (266 ± 27 lb in).

    21. Tighten bolts (5) to a torque of 45 ± 5 N·m (33 ± 4 lb ft).

    22. Tighten bolts (4) to a torque of 23 ± 2 N·m (204 ± 18 lb in).

    23. Tighten bolts (1) to a torque of 23 ± 2 N·m (204 ± 18 lb in).
