Engine Oil Pressure Sensor - Remove and Install

Removal Procedure


NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.



NOTICE

Keep all parts clean from contaminants.

Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.

  1. Disconnect the harness assembly and remove filtered engine oil pressure sensor (2).

  2. Remove the O-ring seal from the engine oil pressure sensor.

  3. Disconnect the harness assembly and remove unfiltered engine oil pressure sensor (1).

  4. Remove the O-ring seal from the engine oil pressure sensor.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install a new O-ring seal on filtered engine oil pressure sensor (2). Apply clean engine oil to the O-ring seal.

  2. Install filtered engine oil pressure sensor (2) and tighten to a torque of 10 ± 2 N·m (89 ± 18 lb in).

  3. Connect the harness assembly.

  4. Install a new O-ring seal on unfiltered engine oil pressure sensor (1). Apply clean engine oil to the O-ring seal.

  5. Install unfiltered engine oil pressure sensor (1) and tighten to a torque of 10 ± 2 N·m (89 ± 18 lb in).

  6. Connect the harness assembly.
