Fuel Pressure Sensor - Remove and Install

Removal Procedure


NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.



NOTICE

Keep all parts clean from contaminants.

Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.


  1. Turn the fuel shutoff valve to the OFF position.

  2. Disconnect harness assembly (1) and harness assembly (2).

  3. Remove filtered fuel pressure sensor (3), unfiltered fuel pressure sensor (4), elbow (5), and elbow (6).

Installation Procedure

  1. Install filtered fuel pressure sensor (3) and unfiltered fuel pressure sensor (4) in the reverse order of removal.

    1. Lubricate that bore of filtered fuel pressure sensor (3) and unfiltered fuel pressure sensor (4) with the lubricant that is being sealed.

    2. Tighten filtered fuel pressure sensor (3) and unfiltered fuel pressure sensor (4) to a torque of 10 ± 2 N·m (89 ± 18 lb in).
