Conversion Procedure

------ WARNING! ------

Fuel leaked or spilled onto hot surfaces or electrical components can cause a fire. To help prevent possible injury, turn the start switch off when changing fuel filters or water separator elements. Clean up fuel spills immediately.

----------------------

  1. Turn the fuel supply to the OFF position.

  1. Remove the fuel filter. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Fuel System Primary Filter (Water Separator) Element - Replace".

  1. Replace the existing secondary and tertiary fuel filters with the two new 416-1225 Fuel Filters .

Note: This Step is not necessary for C9.3 Engines.

Replacing the Primary Fuel Filter Base on Engines with the Cat Regeneration System (CRS)

  1. Disconnect both the supply and return fuel lines from the fuel filter base. Disconnect wiring harness assemblies and remove the connecting hardware.

  1. Remove bolts (2) that secure the existing filter base and remove the filter base.

  1. Remove the existing plugs and connectors from the existing 360-1693 Fuel Priming Pump and Primary Filter Gp .

    (3) 228-7089 O-Ring Seal

  1. Install the removed plugs and connectors into the new 434-3158 Fuel Priming Pump and Primary Filter Gp using O-ring seals (1) and O-ring seal (3) as shown in Illustration 1.

Replacing the Primary Fuel Filter Base on Engines without CRS

  1. Disconnect the hose assemblies that carry fuel to and from the fuel filter base. Disconnect harness assemblies and remove the connecting hardware.

  1. Remove bolts (2) that secure the existing filter base and remove the filter base.

  1. Remove the existing plugs and connectors from the existing 213-4740 Fuel Priming Pump and Water Separator .
