Cat® Command For Hauling Caterpillar

MID 039 - CID 3456 - FMI 03

Usage:

- AT6
Conditions Which Generate This Code:

MID 039 - Machine Control Module (MCM)

CID 3456 - Autonomous Steering Enable Solenoid #1 Return

FMI 03 - Voltage Above Normal

This diagnostic code is active when the Machine Control Module (MCM) has determined the Autonomous Steering Enable Solenoid #1 Return (Primary EH Steer Pilot SOL [P1] return) voltage is above normal.

Test Step 1. CHECK IF THE DIAGNOSTIC CODE IS STILL ACTIVE

  1. The keyswitch and the disconnect switch remain in the OFF position.

  2. Inspect the contacts of the harness connectors that are used in the solenoid circuit. Ensure that the contacts are secure. Clean all of the contacts in the harness connectors.

  3. Reconnect all harness connectors.

  4. Turn the disconnect switch and the keyswitch to the ON position.

  5. Operate the machine.

  6. Determine if the CID 3456 FMI 03 is active.

Expected Result:

The CID 3456 FMI 03 is active.

Results:

  • YES - The CID 3456 FMI 03 is active.

Repair: CID 3456 FMI 03 is not expected to trigger in normal operation. If CID 3456 FMI 03 is active, follow the troubleshooting steps for MID 039 CID 3454 FMI 03.

    STOP

  • NO - The CID 3456 FMI 03 is not active. The problem does not exist at this time.

Repair: The initial diagnostic code was probably caused by a poor electrical connection or a short at one of the harness connectors. When disconnected and reconnected the short or poor connection was corrected. Resume normal machine operation.

    STOP
