Housing (Front) - Remove and Install

Start By:

  1. Remove the engine oil filter base.

  2. Remove the camshaft gear.

  3. Remove the crankshaft front seal.

  4. Remove the camshaft position sensor.

  5. Remove the crankshaft position sensor.

  6. Remove the alternator.

  7. Remove the water pump.

  8. Remove the auxiliary water pumps.

  9. Remove the front engine support.


NOTICE

Do not turn the crankshaft or the camshaft while the camshaft gear is removed. If the front gear group is not correctly timed during installation, interference can occur between the pistons and the valves, resulting in damage to the engine.

  1. Remove bolts (1).

  2. Remove bolts (2) and bracket (3).

  3. Remove nut (4).

  4. Remove bolts (5) and bolts (6).

  5. Remove bolts (7).

  6. Remove the bolts and strap (8).

  7. Remove studs (10) and nut (9).

  8. Remove bolts (11).

  9. Remove front housing (12).

  10. Discard the gasket from the plate and front housing (12). Use a new gasket for installation.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install front housing (12) in the reverse order of removal.

      Note: The mating surfaces of the plate and the front housing must be free of oil, fuel, water, dirt, assembly compounds, and any other contaminants.

    1. Trim the gasket even with the bottom of front housing (12) after assembly.

    2. Apply Tooling (A) to the bottom of the gasket to fill the space at front housing (12) and the engine oil pan.
